Hi,trevor,i had to google gordon reynolds :) and when i did i came across this post from here on gc in 2007..Well done you :yay::blue thumb:.....

When you pinch out the growing tip in Fuchsias it takes 8-10 weeks for a single and 10-12 weeks for a double to flower.
Entered a Fuchsia in the City of Wolverhampton show at the weekend and managed a 3rd place. This was a brand new cultivar called Mr Tom only a few plants are around at the moment. This plant was raised by Gordon Reynolds of the Black Country Fuchsia Society.

Hi again Trevor I am pleased to say all the fuchsias I put into conservatory are ticking away nice.

Not so sure about the ones in the greenhouse.

Dobbies had all their baby fuchsias at weekend and they were charging £1 for 1.and not any new varieties.

So time to look for fuchsia nurseries.

Checked my fuchsias on sunday and all showing signs of growth, including the ones you sent me ScotKat, so I pruned them a little, sip of water, and tucked them all back in.

Same thing here, Joolz. And I think I promised you a couple of fuchsias - you did like Bicentennial, the pink/orange combination I had last year didn't you? I'll keep an eye on them and hopefully they'll pull though.

I think Delta's Sarah will be OK, as it's hardy and came through last year being kept in the shed, but then people here have said before they've lost hardy plants too. Ohhh, the worry starts again...:frown:

Still, if not many do survive, it's an excuse to buy new ones. :dbgrtmb:

I'm pretty green with them too, but I won't be able to tell until the spring what's survided. I read a tip a few years ago that if you cut into a stem and it's green in the middle then everything's A-OK. If all you get is brown in the middle of the stems then it means the plant's died. This site http://www.fuchsiaflower.co.uk/overwintering.htm has got some good advice too, most of which I'm embarrassed to admit I've not done. Bad plant owner.

I've just had a look on Other Fellow Fuchsias again though. There's no way I'm going to resist buying from them. :)

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but if you scratch a stem with your nail and you can see green, it`s definitely alive, however I would still suggest waiting as a lot of them will send up new growth from the roots.
I had left some of my hardy fuchsias in the ground, checked them over today and I can see growth buds on all of them
