          I beat you on the pathetic stakes I'm afraid loli - I've only just bought my packet of onion seeds this evening! So, I have nothing to photograph yet (unless you want a photo of a seed packet);

          I went for Ailsa Craig in the end, for no other reason than it was a variety that I had heard of.

            Not sure if mine were ready for potting on but I've been and gone and done it. So this is what they looked like:

            20130129-IMG_7468.JPG

            ... with roots starting to appear from the bottom of the pot:

            20130129-IMG_7470.JPG

            ... with a reasonable root system just starting to form ....

            ... I'm using J.I. No 2 ...

            20130129-IMG_7465.JPG

            ... and treating half of them with my secret ingredient in the bottom of the pot ...

            20130129-IMG_7466.JPG

            ... then covered with vermiculite to prevent mould forming and reflect light ...

            ... continued on next post ...

                I've never used that Rootgrow stuff before on anything, that's why I only treated half of them as an experiment.

                          Hi folks.

                          My second sowing seem to have come to nothing, so I've just sown again. I only have enough left to make one more sowing. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I really can't figure out what. Frustrating......

                          Hey Freddy, try germinating a couple of seeds in damp kitchen roll, placed in a tupperware or similar container, try to keep the temperature around 18c, if they germinate you know they are viable, otherwise I'm sure some of us here on GC (including me) will be happy to give you some seedlings. Don't give up mate!
