Out and about on Mann

Trust you Zigs, It wouldn't surprise me if there is one that goes by that name. The pubs here specialise in local brews with some very strange names.

 

Around Peel Harbour.

This fellow stands outside a modern museum. On the other side of the window is a full size longboat.




Manx kippers are supposedly the best in the world and can be posted just about anywhere I believe.

There's not many marina's where you will find a longboat docked.
Longboat races are held here every summer in the outer harbour. The crews are made up from various companies around the island and they are trained four two to three weeks on the oars. They may not look it but they are heavy boats.

 

Not that I know of FC but there's always adoption! Blimey! You make me feel old calling me Auntie Sheal, but there again my eldest is coming up for 37 years and I'm still on the right side of 60. I'd welcome a visit from you, but be warned it rains a lot and it's expensive to get here.

Remember, I'm showing you the pretty bits, there are also some ugly ones.

The islands incinerator building. Sorry the pictures aren't that clear, it was a beautiful sunny day but very hazy.



When the incinerator was first built approx. five years ago somebody took a picture of the stack (below) and super-imposed the space shuttle up against it - it looked very realistic.



Ignore the For Sale board.....that's for units on the same site.

 

It is Armandii, you should see our new power station, that's inside a glass building so that you can see all the workings and it's lit up inside with blue lights at night.

 

So it could be doing a round trip then Armandii. Electric cables were layed from the mainland to the island a few years ago as our power station isn't large enough to cope with the housing population now.
