Good Evening everybody, I do hope you are all well? :)

I posted a couple of days ago in the "Light Chat Section" that I was in the process of installing my recent purchase which was a Gardena MicroDrip Irrigation System and a couple of lovely members were asking a few questions, so I thought I would put up a thread for you all to have a look at.

It all started when I saw the "Starter Kit" in my local garden centre just after christmas and luckily for me it was in the sale , along with a few other accessories to expand the kit and set it up to your needs. The set should of been £60 but I got it for £40, after buying some bits and bobs the total soon mounted up to £80 sale price. :rolleyespink:

Anyway, today I have finally finished installing it in my greenhouse and throughout the garden. :phew: Long job but definitely worth it! (Biased you might think) :heehee:

I can only upload a maximum of 6 photos unfortunately! I took loads :cry3:Here goes, a difficult choice!

    The Accessories
    Gardena Acessories .jpg

Raised bed. This includes 3, 180 Degree sprayers, 3 Spray connectors, L joints, 13mm Supply Pipe & 3 pipe pegs.
    Raised Bed Pegged.jpg

This is an overview of my greenhouse. You can see at the top there is the 13mm Supply Pipe, then a Straight Connector, then the 4.6mm Branch Pipe & finally there is a Greenhouse Micro mist Spray Nozzle.
    Overview Micromist.jpg

Also in the greenhouse I have installed a 'pricey' Shut Off Valve so I can isolate off the greenhouse from the rest of the garden. Useful part although it cost £7.99.
    Shut Off Valve.jpg

This is the general set up of any irrigation system, large supply pipe (13mm) carries the water to the branch pipe (4.6mm) and then to the Adjustable Endline Dripper (Orange End) which you can choose to deliver 0 - 20 Litres of water per hour.
    Set Up 1.jpg

Each dripper has a "gunk" inside and it is a self cleaning lubricant so there is no risk of the dripper holes getting blocked up! Always useful when close to soil level. :blue thumb:
    Gunk.jpg

Such a shame I can only upload a maximum of 6 images as I have so much more to show you. At the start of the system the main part of it is a pressure regulator.

"The GARDENA Master Unit 1000 is the starter component of the GARDENA Micro-Drip-System. The Master Unit reduces initial pressure to an operating pressure of approx. 1.5 bar for optimal operation of the connected Drip Heads and Nozzles. The water flow is approx. 1,000 litres per hour. The Master Unit also filters the water." Source - www.gardena.com

The full list of products I have used.
    Pressure Regulator Unit 1000 (1)
    Shut Off Valve 13mm (1)
    Shut Off Valve 4.6mm (6)
    Adjustable Endline Drip Head (MANY)
Adjustible Inline Drip Head 2L (MANY)
    Spray Nozzle 180 (3)
    Micromist Nozzle (4)
    T Joint for spray nozzles 13mm (3)
    T Joint 13mm (MANY)
    L Joint 13mm (MANY)
    T Joint 13mm - 4.6mm (MANY)
    Connector 4.6mm (MANY)
    Plug 13mm (4)
    Plug 4.6mm (2)
    Supply Pipe 13mm (30 METRES)
Branch Pipe 4.6mm (APPROX 18 METRES)
    Pipe Pegs 4.6mm (MANY)

    The Starter Set: http://www.gardena.com/uk/water-man...r-set-with-water-computer-c-14e/900-91-59-01/

    Pros:
    Ease of connecting pipes
    Strength of pipes
    Accurate water delivery
Precise watering times on the timer
    Strong Drippers

    Cons:
    Price of accessories!
Not enough of what you need in the starter set

Now for the bit you are all wondering about, the finished price. ... I hope you're sitting down because I wish I was! :heehee:

£160 :thud: and a lot of the stuff I purchased was in the sale! However some of the products I needed to get after the installation began so I got them from ... http://www.twowests.co.uk

If your thinking of getting an irrigation system I would really recommend this one as its a good quality brand and one thats made to last! Sorry about the length of this thread but I hope I didn't bore you! :heehee:

    Happy Gardening! :dbgrtmb: :ccheers:

      Thank you Kayleigh :imphrt:

It looks like a fantastic system, and although not the cheapest thing, I can certainly see the benefit from it. I think I should be saving my pennies now.

You can always add more pictures in a new post if you have more to show?

Can this be set up as a 'zoned' system - for example, I have baskets and pots to the front and side of the house, then pots/bags/beds in the back as well as the greenhouse - is it simply a case of extending it out as far as you need to?

Inline Drippers which are set at delivering 2Litres of water per hour.
              Inline dripper.jpg

Back of my greenhouse, pipes will eventually be pegged into pots underneath.

              3 Drippers.jpg

This is the timer that I got in the box, not the best looking one in their range now but it will do the job just the same as the other ones priced at £70+!

Great review Kayleigh looks just like the sort of thing I'm after. Some of the cheaper kits don't use a supply pipe it's all fed from the 4.6mm small stuff. Which garden centre did you buy it from? Was it one of the garden centre group ones?
