After the cold weather I was dreading the bill. They read the meter a few days ago.:sofa:

Imagine my suprise when it was only £111 for the quarter:phew:

Compared to the same quarter last year.....

That's very good that Zig. £111 for 3 months in winter. We get through about £60 per month in winter, so about £180, but our water is heated by an immersion heater so I guess that pushes it up loads.

Lost the one that left everything on all the time. Willow and I have not been walking round in the dark shivering, still use the electric heaters in the morning when the fire has burned down.

But we don't go out leaving all the heaters on, music blasting out to an empty house, which was the case when the previous mrs Searchfield lived here.

Not joking, just look at the figures:doh: How can one woman consume so much electric:doh:

Our main heating is by the woodburner, which does the water and 8 radiators. I can't quantify the costs of that as I get most of the wood for free.

I could have installed an emersion heater but I knew someone would have just abused that. She refused to have a bath when the solar water heating was just asking to be used & then made a great show of having a bath by boiling as many kettles as it took to fill the bath when the water wasn't available.

            You can't plan for beligerence:doh:

That very good zigs. Mine was £128 for the quarter :love30:
I'm in credit too so no need to worry about leaving the heated propagator on 24h :snork:

DO u have a gas supply zigs? Til last year my hot water was heated by a back boiler but the rads were never linked up. Would be interested to know how a wood burning stove can heat rads and water sounds great

No gas in Hambridge, electricity has only just been declassified from "Witchcraft" they couldn't handle something else that you can't see.

Only disadvantage is that you have to have both the rads and the hot water on, if you just have one or the other it boils in the back of the fire.

Not a problem in the sunnier months, as the solar array heats the water. You wouldn't want the fire on in the summer.

I'm looking forward to weeks 15 - 41 when our heating goes off. As we record our energy consumption on a weekly basis there's no surprises when the bills arrive.
