Hello, I'm Jim. I've been an active gardener for the last twelve years having grown mainly veg. A house move and two children later I unfortunately no longer have the space or time to devote to vegetable growing anymore, so I have turned my attention to shrubs, flowers, container gardening which includes Bonsai.
I can't wait for Spring this year and am eagerly awaiting my Spring bulbs to burst into flower and things to 'come alive' again.

      Hello and welcome.

Just a thought, but why not combine some of your old plans to grow food with your new low maintenance plan. Strawberries are practically zero maintenance in my (limited) experience of them, and some of the soft fruits make nice shrubs. Blueberries are about as attractive as it gets, with their deep green foliage turning crimson red in autumn, and of course you get the berries in summer.

Welcome Jim, it's understandable you have given up the veg growing, caring for youngsters takes a lot of time. We're all champing at the bit waiting to get things under way, so your not alone wishing spring was here. :)

          Good evening Jim,
so nice to have you here on GC. We are all stir crazy - desperate to get cracking. Some members have managed to get tomatoes into flowering stage already by growing them under lights! Mad as a box of frogs most of 'em on here...

Jenny, how mad is a box of frogs? Is it possible that some frogs are in fact quite sane? Is it possible to perform psychometric assessments on frogs to determine their mental characteristics?

I wonder whether Schrodinger put frogs in a box as well as a cat!! They may have been used in the F15 pilot of the psychometric test but I don't remember seeing them there when I took the test. :heehee:

                Apologies here Jim,
we have a habit of parking our bums on someone else's garden wall and chatting - without seeking the owner's permission,:oopss:
