    Hi All,

Finally got around to constructing my 2 new raised beds yesterday, but I ran out of materials and with the weather today had no chance of finishing them.

I need to raise the left hand side of the one on the left as there is a big dip there from removing a small conifer.

      Looking good, rusty! :dbgrtmb:

I do confess though, while mine began that height, I ended up putting one on top of the other to raise them further.

      Hi Mum

That's the idea, but I ran out of wood to make them. Going to pick the rest up tomorrow on my way home from work and hopefully get them finished at the weekend. Weather permitting we have had about an inch of snow in the last couple of hours :frown:

        Hiya Rusty.

Imo, it would would be a good idea to take out a 'spit', setting aside, and forking through the bottom, before replacing again. This will greatly improve drainage, and lessen the need for 'top-up/fill':blue thumb:

It's come to a bit of a stand still as I have had a virus that put me on my back for about 5 days. I picked up the rest of the materials on Friday, but the weather has been bitter here this weekend and didn't fancy getting ill again. Hopefully I will get a couple of hours later in the week to finish it. In answer to your question the wood is treated, I used wooden fencing kick boards that are 1.5 inch x 6 inch. I used old scaffold boards for my original bed which are probably better, but my father in law got them from work and hs now retired and trying to get hold of them is quite difficult unless you want to travel to pick them up.

Finally got round to finishing the construction of the raised beds. Just need to back fill the soil in front if the boards and put the gravel paths back down. and empty the contents of the compost heap into them.

Finally finished off the raised beds. Put the path down yesterday afternoon. Just need a big cleanup now.
