Exactly. Rain and wind. After the cloying excesses of snow and the slow monotony of life with ice, we've now got real weather: proper rain in your face making you smile, proper humid air again giving a freshness to the world and your lungs; easy digging, unpredictable, wheeling skys, puddles for little Cacadore to splash in and beautiful wind bringing birdsong and the landscape to life.

Two pairs of socks, some waterproof trousers and heaven is all around us.

Had eight pancakes after lunch and little Cacadore had her first two. Lovely!

I We had two each. MY OH likes them as they are - no additions. I had mine with lemon and honey from St Lucia . I like mine thin, as Fanny Craddock said "so that you can read your lover's letters through them".
What does anyone else put on theirs ? Thick or thin? Is 8 a GC record?

As for reading while you eat pancakes? When? There's no time. Stuffing them down till you can't fit anything else in is the traditional way - preparing for Lent and all!

Those froggy people like to make a big pile of them in the Summer so you can peel them off cold and add butter. That's not bad. I've tried them with curds. And cream and ice cream and bananas or raspberry jam. Or honey. Not quite pukka though.

The bees knees, I reckon, is straight from the pan; thin as possible, rolled up with lemon you squeezed yourself, white sugar and keep 'em coming.

Lemon juice (fresh) and a sprinkle of sugar is suffice in Mum-Land (I admit, I'm antiquated ).
