today i got a lot done.. I clean the remainder of my pots.. which are now sparkly. Then I had lunch outside.. not bad for February.

After lunch I had to dig up a Japanese Azaleas that was getting a little bit too big for its space.. so put it in a pot.. it'll look better in a pot.

Cut Asplenium scolopendrium right back, so we get fresh green growth this year.. and cut back some damaged leaf tips on the florists Gardenia.

Now I have to go and unblock a drain.

Made the most of a sunny but frosty morning to tackle one of my least favourite jobs; the annual spring clean and tidy up of the greenhouse.

I usually put the chickens in one section during snowy weather each winter and everything else gets chucked in the other section to make way.

So, after clearing away all the assorted chicken poo and feathers, and levelling out the soil which they had thoroughly excavated, it was only a matter of sorting out the usual jumble of pots, seed trays, pots, drawers full of labels, string and other debris (including a few mouse droppings), more pots, cobwebs, dead chafer beetles, live spiders, all the large pots containing my winter salad plants, bags of compost, and assorted hibernating slugs and snails (which were fed to the chickens).

I'm glad that's done for another year! :phew:

We finally got the last of the screws out of washing machine drum today.

Its all ready for me to fill with compost then plant up my strawberrie plants.

Loads done today. Sown most of my seeds today dahlia redskin, dahlia figaro mix, salvia fire blaze, tomato beefeater and Amish salad, coleus red velvet and golden wizard, zinnia f1 dreamland, alter anthers purple knight.
40 Canna seed sown 2 weeks ago seem alittle slow with only 1 showing its head!

Cut the hedge back as far as we can. I'm trying to decide when to start the veg garden, i've got a few garlic in, but not much showing :dunno: i'm hoping they haven't rotted with all the rain.

I made a really nice looking container out of an old washing machine drum Scotkat. I added peat to a cement mix and coated the drum with it. I used unibond first though. It looks like old stone now. Done this with old kitchen sinks too that now look like old stone troughs. Think it was Geoff Hamilton many years back who showed how to do it. Sunny all day today so pretty busy but garden is now full of colour

I've been on my hands and knees today clearing one of the borders of the Winter debris. I'm not in at work tomorrow so I think I'll be doing the same. One good thing on "getting down and dirty":heehee: is that you discover just how many shoots are pushing out of the ground and also what roses and shrubs need pruning and shaping. I managed to gather 3 large sacks of dead stems, leaves, grass etc, just from the one border. A long way to go yet, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow:snork:

Took the old blackberry canes off the arch and tied in the new ones.

Cut down the physocarpuses and a cotinus.

Cut a lot of privet away next to the front gate as it has become difficult to get it closed.

                    Exhausted now.

When I was tidying up another bed I found that the new Allium Christophii we planted in the autumn have all come through :blue thumb:

Had a really good blitz in the garage, putting things together, in boxes, so that I can lay my hands on things without scrambling around.

Moved things around and sweeping up, quite a lot of dust has come under the garage door, not that we use the garage to house the car.

Re-potted my Fuchsia's and freshened the soil, putting some in larger pots.

Started on my seedlings and put them in pots, my conservatory is very full, all the ledges are crammed, and have now started to use the kitchen and bathroom window ledges, and I have not even started sowing any flower seeds yet!

I only hope I don't have to start using the sitting rooms/bedrooms or my other half will start complaining.;)
