Just to let you all know that I have been given a broken down minus a lot of glass covered in weeds shell of a greenhouse.
It is now sat on our patio where it will get lots of sunlight and protection from the prevailing wind.
I have scrubbed it clean, polished the remaining glass and fitted some polycarbonate to the sides and rear of the new house.
At the moment it has been turned into a glorified storage house for plants and pots until I can work out what to grow and when to sow.
Not a big thing, but it will do for what I think will be a new venture and hopefully get me an early start on the season.
New bits added are clips, bolts, auto-vent, and 8"x2" treated timber round the base to weigh it down and to give more height to the house as I am over 6' tall.
There is temporary shelving from wood to metal inside but no chance of digging into the ground as this is on the patio.
At present there is no bubble wrap on the inside and clips have been bought along with a roll of the bubble wrap too just in case.
This a long term project for me to get my garden to look and feel like it should do. I hope to start off new climbers for the fence line as well as new plants for the borders.
The main reason for the new house is so I can get my veggies off to a good start and not have the same problems as this year.

Let me know what you think and what new ideas I could do with all the extra space I have to fill up.

I reckon you've done a pretty good job, Landimad, of turning a "broken down, minus a lot of glass, covered in weeds, shell of a Green House" into what you've got now!!!:snork:
As regards ideas of fillling up the space, I think you'll find that pots of plants will somehow creep in and cram the Green House with any encouragement.:snork: You've made a cracking job of the Green House anyway. It also sounds like you've got some ideas yourself on permanent plans for the garden. You've just got to keep us all up-dated on how you get on.

Thanks for the praise for putting a old bit of scrap back into its prime.
If it wasn't for the kindness of the neighbour giving it to me before they moved out, it would have stayed there for another decade or so.:ThankYou:

Just gone outside to find a large panel missing from the back of the greenhouse.
Have to ensure that all sheets are secure before I batten down for the next round of wind and rain.

Same as 26th November, but this time the neighbour brought it round as it went over the fence.

I think that glass will be ordered next year for the house.

Well, weren't those winds a bit of a nuisance?
Most of the roof went and a lot of the side panels were blown away.
Mainly the Polycarbonate has blown off into the countryside with no chance of ever seeing it again.
Still had to get horti glass for the greenhouse, and that came to a fair £50 incl. VAT.
I hope that this will now keep it from losing valuable heat in winter.

How very annoying. Still, I think you've done an excellent job and you will get so much enjoyment from it over the coming years.

Wind is up again, and a few more panels and glass panels have now come away.
A few more to replace and now a few glazing panels to replace. darn these winds.:gaah:

I had my Green House door blown off last week because I had not closed it properly:doh: Luckily for me it fell onto the Herbs I have either side of the path leading to it and although all three panes fell out they didn't break. It's not a nice feeling when you go to the Green House and see what the wind has done.

Well, after the winds and having my neighbour bring back the panels of Polycarbonate, I have now replaced all but a few pieces with glass. Seems to me that this is good for some parts of the greenhouse, but not for the main sections. Unless I can get heavier duty Polycarbonate(thicker panels), then I shall be sticking with glass. When the need arises, I shall go back to bubble wrapping the inside to keep the temperature up.

A wise move I think Landimad. Polycarbonate is ideal for extra warmth but it just doesn't have the weight that glass has to withstand high winds. :)

Could you not go for over kill with the number of clips used to keep them in?

Sorry to say revin, I had five down each side of each panel and still they came out.
They were of the W type and not any other, so not sure if other types would have been better suited.
