I'm going out to buy myself a very big bucket today and then I'm going to really fill it up. Stuff it to the brim!

The more you have to do, the more you'll achieve.

Kandy, congratulations on paying off the mortgage :dbgrtmb:. It's a great feeling, isn't it? :)

When I was a kid we seem to have seen quite a lot of partial eclipses but I've only ever seen one total eclipse. It was sometime in 1962 and I was in Papua New Guinea. There are two things I remember about it, apart from it going dark. All the birds stopped singing - and the locals didn't fall to their knees wailing that the gods were unhappy :heehee:. Apparently, total eclipses in Papua aren't anywhere near as uncommon as they are here.

On my wish bucket list but now scored off.

My dream was to go up in a hot air balloon but not any more .

      After what has happened.

Scotkat, don't let it put you off. :blue thumb:

It's a fantastic sensation and the views are wonderful as you glide serenely through the silence.

We've had the balloon ride where the incident happened. They have thousands of flights per year and have had, mainly, only minor incidents. Since the recent revolution it appears that safety checks haven't been as rigorous as they should be.

In this country it's a very safe thing to do. :dbgrtmb:

If I was young and very fit I would love to climb Everest... instead I follow the climbers' progress and stories every year from the comfort and safety of home (weird, I know). I feel so lucky that I have crammed so much into my life... by accident we happened to be in St Lucia at the time of a total eclipse in 1998. There were lots of superstitious locals who were rather scared by the event. A few years ago I watched the divers in Acapulco from a cafe high up on the rocks... it was wonderfully entertaining. The divers came to the cafe after their jumps (collecting tips) and described how badly their hearing and sight is affected due to the impact with the water. This made me feel terribly guilty for having just watched.

Still on my 'to do' list is to take a train across Canada followed by a small vessel cruise to see the glaciers around Alaska and of course the whales.
