The soil is dry enough for the Sparrows to to have a dust/sand bath, the bare veg patch is their favourite place.

Shiney, what an incredible lot of birds in your garden all at once. There are gold crests around we have a pair regularly visiting, aren't they tiny. We get through an awful lot of seed and fat/seed filled coconuts too. Still it is wonderful just to watch them through the windows having their petty squabbles.

There were about 8 goldfinches each on the 2 different feeders at 8.30am today. Like Gatwick Airport it was. Their colours are becoming quite vibrant now.
No camera to hand then but got some a bit later.

He does look cold doesn't he, Woo?:snork: I'm glad to see the Sparrow is making a comeback after it declined a few years ago. I've got Blackbirds in more numbers in the garden too than I had a year or too ago. They're having disputes as to who the garden belongs too and chase each other from shrub to shrub:coffee: !!

Now, now, Sheal :nonofinger: You have to feel sorry for sparrows!

                We 'ad a bleedin' sparrow
wot lived up a bleedin' spout
one day the bleedin' rain came down
                and washed the bleeder out

and as 'e lay half drownded
                down in the bleedin' street
                'e begged that bleedin' rainstorm
                to bathe 'is bleedin' feet

and then the bleedin' sun came out
                dried up the bleedin' rain
                so our bleedin' little sparrow
'e climbed up 'is spout again

                but O, the cruel sparrowhawk
he spied 'im in 'is snuggery
'e sharpened up 'is bleeedin' claws
and ripped 'im out by thuggery

just then, a bleedin' sporting type
                wot 'ad a bleedin' gun
                'e spies that bleedin' sparrowhawk
                and blasts 'is bleedin' fun

                the moral to this story
                is plain to everyone
that them wot's up the bleedin' spout
                don't get no bleedin' fun

Everything! I've been trying to stop them from nesting under my roof tiles for the last few years, it's like living with a house full of budgies! It doesn't help that my neighbours feed them just ten feet away. :wallbanging:

Actually, it would solve both problems Armandii, I'd be doing time in a brand new prison here. :heehee:
