Should I be uncovering my seedlings now, or leave the film over them? Anything else I should be doing (apart from keeping them warm enough and not letting them dry out)?

I think you'd be OK removing the cling film FC but cover them at night so they don't get a chill.....:dbgrtmb: but don't take my word for it...see what the others say who actually know what they're talking about:thumbsup:

        Hiya FC.

Yes, I would uncover them as this will allow more light. Be careful not to over-water, they don't like it. As loli said, don't let them get too cold, try to maybe aim for 10c minimum?

        Cheers...Freddy

One other thing, they are sort of lying down a bit as opposed to standing completely upright - is this anything to worry about?

I think it's time for an early course of "Team Building" like we did for the toms FC. Can't have all this lying about,
never got where I am today..........etc.etc....

It might well be that they are being kept too warm? What kind of temperatures are you getting?

They are on the windowsill at the foot of the stairs which is in the living room, so variable between 17º and 23º depending if he heating is on; I'd imagine they are a wee bit cooler than that as they are next to the window, albeit closed and double glazed.

Sounds like temps are a bit high coupled with relatively low light making them spindly. It's a common problem for those trying to grow indoors. Any chance you could offer a bit more light and drop the temps a bit?

I've removed the cling film tents from them today, which will hopefully help with the temperatures - I can open the opener that is above them a wee bit when I am in the house, but it has to remain closed whilst we are out at work. Light wise, there is no way of increasing the light, as they are in the brightest location in the house (gets the sun for the majority of the day)

Taking off the cling film will help with the light level, I would think, but I doubt if it will affect temperatures. Hopefully, that will be enough.

I'm afraid I am out for this year, I've been far too busy with other non gardening things and my seedling now look poor and are mostly dead.

I've bought some sets to plant this year now.

                Steve...:)

                Hiya Steve.

That's a shame. It's still not too late to sow if you wanted to, not necessarily for the competition:blue thumb:
