Ok, so I have my seeds at the ready too, and I think I will sow them this weekend, together with bell peppers.

    My varieties are:
    Moneymaker
    Gertenperle
    Valencia
    Omars Lebanese

I guess it all boils down to....if you're prepared to offer the resource they need to thrive, heating, lighting etc. I tend to go with the traditional thing, as they seem to me to only produce for a finite length of time. In other words, the sooner they fruit, the sooner they finish. I suppose it depends on how important it is to get early fruit?

Just to add, with outside toms, you're totally governed by the weather, so I suppose it's all about timing and weather conditions. Of course, you can get a head-start if you're able to pot on under cover, which of course has implications.

I wonder how many of those have grown it before and particularly like it?

I know its popular, but most people who I know who have grown it, in the past, found it somewhat tasteless and, having tried other varieties, have shifted allegiance :)

I have grown it a couple of times in the past and even though it is easy to grow and a great producer - when it comes to taste - the word 'bland' springs to mind.

:yay: I have received about 50 Tomato seeds from Angelina in Bulgaria. If you remember, she gave up a piccie of her Mammoth tomato last year. It grows to 11.5cms and apparently tastes delicous but its variety name is unknown. Handed down from her grandmother :wub2: . I shall only need 5 so the rest are up for grabs; just PM me if you would like 5, all I need is a SAE,
                Jenny
