I knew something was afoot when the chocolates started appearing and just about every clothing aisle in any supermarket turned suddenly pink! It's yet another excuse to sell the great unsuspecting public, over-priced flowers or a load of tat that, under normal circumstances you wouldn't dream of buying for your worst enemy let alone your Mum.

Mothering Sunday was fine when it was 3 handmade cards from my daughters and perhaps a cup of tea in bed - but 'Mothers' Day' is something altogether different and consequently it's absolutely banned in this house. I know my daughters love me and the best way they can show it is by not wasting their hard earned money on a slushy card or, if the adverts are to be believed, buying everything from a Kindle or a watch, through tacky ornaments to a 'World's Best Mum' mug.

I shall speak to each of them on the 'phone, as I do every day, they'll probably say 'Happy Mothers' Day' and that, thankfully, will be the end of that.

The most memorable "gift" I was given for Mother's Day was a phone call.
Nothing particularly amazing in that, I suppose - except for who it was from: my eldest brother.

When I pointed out I wasn't *his* mother, his reply was:
"No, but you are *a* mother and a very good one at that; Happy Mother's Day" :ccheers:

                Priceless!

I'll be spending the day with my daughter and family and it will also be my Grandsons birthday. I am so looking forward to it as he will be returning from Thailand after a few months. He was actually born on mothers day 22 years ago - a great Mothers day gift to my daughter - and also to me as my 1st Grandchild.

Happy Mothers day to all - enjoy!

4 years ago, when I was still in Cyprus, I got a phone call telling me that I was going to be a grannie.
Funny thing though, the night before I had a dream about a baby, so that as my son was speaking, I said before him- I am going to be a grannie, and he said yes, how the hell did I know that?
Sam is a handsome little chap the spit of his dad. The picture on my avatar is Jared my other grandson who was born in April last year.

I do not think I shall have anymore, so I am glad that I have these two.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Very commendable, that is if you still have a Mam.

Thanks for the reminder.:cry3: Cheers, Tony.

I'm quite looking forwards to taking my son to the florists at the weekend to buy his mam some flowers. I think it will be quite canny.
