What I was driving at, is that it's surprising that Mowgley is having such trouble, when it was so easy for me.

Yes, on average that's it (a bit more on really cold days maybe :heehee: ), but the windowsill I use has a large window and is south facing, recieving sun (when we get it :snork: ) from early afternoon until sunset, so the windowsill retains some warmth throughout the night boosted by the radiator below it and then the warmth from the radiator in the morning keeps it warm again until the sun comes round :dbgrtmb:

I reckon if you sowed the stamp bilbo you'd get them to germinate too :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

            Hi
Hi sorry for the delay in replying, been doing overtime at work.I have tropicanna that's been planted for about two years. Last year I tried to dig around them but ended up spearing a couple. That is why the ground is a bit hard now. Also some of them did not grow very well, only about a foot if that, and they did not flower.Hence why I think I will divide them this year, start them off in pots again then replant in looser soil with compost added.

Thanks for the info Pete and Sal.Will try and dig them up some point at the weekend.Mine were late to come through last year. Tbh The new ones I planted from seed grew so fast that they drowned the tropicana.

Did I won my bet????????? :dbgrtmb:

Now my question is : our seeds are fresh and reliable , is one of the best seller on the market unreliable????????

I would ask for an explanation , that happen to me last year got lots of seeds from jungleseeds and only got 3 out of 30 .......not really good expecially when they make us think as useless gardners and blame on us .

I'm sure many seed suppliers carry seed over from one year to the next, some just rely on those that supply them, often on the other side of the world.
Its far too easy for them to say "sporadic germination" or "needs experience".
I know from years gone by the amount of money I have spent on basically "dead" palm seed.

I never had problems with palm seed I collected myself.
