      Over the Canna's you mean? Hmm, that's sounding good:dbgrtmb: That would mean I could take the cover off completely. What a blummin' good idea:ideaIPB:

                Also I reckon mine will need supporting soon, I'm thinking of making up some wire hoop affairs.

                This is something I knocked up a few years ago;

                It is circle formed on a piece of malleable wire with a long stem,then the ring is bent at right angles to vertical as seen in the picture.

                Sorry about the quality of the picture but the supports were not the subject I was photographing!

                But I think they are visible enough to show what I mean

                  That's what I had in mind Tee Gee thanks!

                  Freddy; I have googled for onion supports but can't find a supplier. I'm thinking even if I did find purpose made ones they might be too expensive as this giant onion growing lark is only going to be for this year :dbgrtmb:

                    Use one on a single cane and then two on a couple of canes (as pic) to increase diameter. Or use some wire from Wilkos.

                    Those clips are slightly cheaper if bought in packs of 100, and ebay is cheaper than buying from here
