I got myself a Passiflora 'pura vida' today, not sure of it's hardiness but it's going in the frost free area so shouldn't be a problem.. anyone grow P. 'pura vida'

According to Dr.Maurizio, it needs about 7°c. Not grown it myself though.
It's a hybrid of P.caerulea, karmesina and racemosa. Karmesina is really tender.
    Bit of a looker though!

Ah no ... not him! Temptation Personified! So many mouth watering things that Strange Wonderful Things posts, with incredibly tempting photos ... I've bid amounts that I considered extravagant on his auctions and still not won them (probably a good thing!)

Worth looking at the closing price of his completed auctions - bearing in mind that generally his auctions are for 5 seeds ... he's made a very nice business, and I wish him well with it, cracking good idea :)

He does sell a few plants, from time to time, but they would be unlikely to get past customs without phytosanitary certificate - and he probably doesn't want to do them - the delay, in customs, would probably kill them anyway :(

Best to stick to buying seeds from abroad IMHO.

Not come across that before. Looks lovely. Would a B. sanguinea do you instead? Mine is a bit small, but would probably yield a cutting soon, but other folk will probably have rooted cuttings spare.

 :lunapic 130165696578242 5: shame on me ;) .....after reading this thread I had to call a dear friend of mine , who know dr maurizio and ask for seeds of Passiflora arborea , who actually have booked few of his plant for me and just noticed that 5 seeds where sold at $128 ......

Unfortunatly the original brugmansia vulcanicola it`s really rare , you can find lots of hybrid , overall with our climate it`s a must have plant ....can actually flowering 5/6 time a year and absolutely happy in a cold greenhouse for winter ....

          Yep - absolutely stunning!

I've been visiting SWT for a couple of years now as it's a great source of inspiration. From what I'm led to believe 95% of his seed is harvested personally and thus fresh.

Brugmansia vulcanicola is a gem, but as already said very rare.

I understood that he had a relationship with the local botanical gardens (who don't sell direct for some reason, possibly some "charter" that that is not their remit), and if so the seed has the best chance of germinating; his auctions typically say "fresh" in the description.

That would make sense. There seems to be a fair bit of "folklore" about SWT - the one constant amongst those that I know who have purchased is the quality of the seed. They all seem more than happy.

I'd be happy if they all went out for the day when he was having an auction so that the price was within my budget !!

Mind you ... anything bought as a seed that germinates well should net you a plant and several to sell at astronomical prices ...
