Cypress trees...

    Hi, wondered if anybody could help, I have seen a pic of a living arch of italian cypress trees but Wikipedia says they grow to 50ft? Will the arch just get higher and higher as it grows?

    I'm not sure how hardy they are.
    Most that were around these parts died a few years ago, I think.

    I think the trees will only grow from the tips, so once they are bent into an arch the tips will keep growing - presumably they clip those, like topiary, to stop them growing any more. The arch may "bush up" a bit, and thicken, but those Italian Cypresses remain pretty skinny all their life.
