I hear snow is beneficial in providing cover for certain vulnerable young plants.

Hell's teeth, this is diabolical even for us hardy Scots. Can't get manure making machine out of his stable again and doubt he'd want out in this anyway.Cat has decided it ain't going out either. Farmers are in the midst of lambing, not funny. At least (obviously!) we still have power which is more than some poor folk. From the forecast we have a few more days to endure before things even vaguely improve. Only good thing is that the howling gale has removed the vast majority of the snow off my driveway.....bad is that it has drifted down the road (single track) and unless you have a 4x4 no chance of getting though the considerable drift.Cheesed off is the polite version of how I and many like me feel!

I remember it well :old: - now, that was snowy :heehee: and by Feb/March 1963 temps were down to -20C. Then there was the winter of 1947 - I remember it well! :roflol:

As I get older I realise that the silly old sod (as I called the old man when I was a teenager) knew more than I gave him credit for!
Mind you, he could kill just about any plant (including Buddleja)!

Just had a look at the visible satelite pic, there is a patch of sun just south of Bude in Cornwall, apart from that we're all under the weather.

At least Dan Dollin stands a chance of a bit of good weather:)

well this snow here is so deep, its here for a week I reckon, flooding thereafter is there is a fast melt. Before that though, potential record lows!
