One of my friend in Italy has offered me an Helicodiceros Muscivorus
    [IMG]

she also got the titanum , as my garden is really small , I`m actually scared of the bad smell I will get, last year with vodoo lily it seams that i had a dead cow in my garden.

Guys I can order another bag of Suran , but they are really heavy and the postage will kill me , if anyone is interested don`t esitate to contact me.

Sal. That's a very kind offer. I would love to have a go. I am very willing to pay for a whole bag (or share it with someone else) and of course I would pay fully for the postage. I hesitated because of the nuisance (to you) value rather than the cost.

I'd also happily go half on a bag if Peter would be interested? I'm sure the postage would be more reasonable with a courier last time I checked myHemes https://www.myhermes.co.uk/ will ship between 1-2kg for less than £4

You are probably right Aesculus. But if Sal would be willing to get some more Suran, I feel it is only fair on him to ship them the easiest way he can. Suran is something that, I suspect, you will never see on sale even amongst specialist suppliers - so I am quite willing to pay a bit extra for that.

I'd love a couple too, but I too am reluctant to put Sal to that trouble.

Still bothered that we are putting you to a lot of trouble Sal.

How about we all move house to Bedford instead ? :)

I don't even have a reason to be driving that way in the next week or two, otherwise I would at least feel that the only trouble I had put you to was lugging them home, not having to pack them up for courier.

I wonder what they would sell for on eBay ... there might be the makings of some pocket-money there Sal as you have such a good relationship with your grocer :)

My sentiments too. I didn't realise that carriers would collect - that does make life a bit easier.

Sal's offer is very generous and if he really is serious then ideally I would like a couple (or more) of large ones. But I would be very happy to have anything - either more or less - to fit in with others. Obviously all costs would be reimbursed.

Just found some growing instructions :-

Elephant foot yam is found to grow well in hot and humid climates. Well-drained, fertile, sandy loam soil is ideal for growing the crop.

Under irrigated conditions, the crop is planted during mid-March (especially in Kerala) and harvested during October and under rain-fed conditions, the crop is planted during the last week of June in north India

The tubers should be planted 90 x 90 cm apart in pits filled with decomposed cow dung manure and sandy loam soil. Before planting it is advisable to treat the tubers with cow dung slurry mixed with trichoderma formulation followed by drying under shade.

So we really need the dung of a decomposed cow as well.

My thoughts exactly. I'm only after things that are Amorphophallus, or Colocasia like, but within that group whatever is available would be fantastic.

Any place with a sizeable Asian/African population would have these shops - Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Bradford, N London and many more, no doubt. If you live within 50 miles of any of these I reckon it would be worth a drive for a keen tropical gardener. A few minutes Googling would probably turn up some leads. Might be a bit further for PeterS, though.
          Don't tempt me!

I know! I found this page a few days ago which kinda made me decide to try.
I have four more, but being a greedy sod I'm going to eat one. Hoping to get one growing for my sisters birthday. The two in the picture are mine to keep.
