I see where you're going with this. Sounds like a plan is forming.

Spot on,high pressure over the Azores area, hence recent times being mild !

Hmmmmmm..... Not sure if Heinz have enough stock to keep up with the plan though. Still, maybe we could supplement with curry and beer??

Oh, and as we are well mannered Brits, we best get some clothes pegs for the sake of the ladies comfort (unless of course they are doing their bit for 'generation')

The oscillations are in the pressure patterns they can change back and forth, I'm not entirely sure why they assign positive to the Azores and negative to Greenland, but it's just a measurement tool

We could just wait a few weeks and accept the weather we get. Its not like we can change it, so we can either stress over it, or just get on.

There's an old saying. "Ne'er cast a clout til May be out". Some mistakenly believe it means that you have to keep your winter clothes handy til the end of May, but its more likely that it refers to the flowers of the May tree, which nowadays we call Hawthorn (or sometimes Whitethorn). The hawthorn trees aren't flowering yet, and very rarely would be this early, so no cause for alarm yet.

Better to have cold weather now when nature's hardly begun to unfold spring and even most gardeners are having to hang back, than in a months's time when buds are opened and blossoming and everyone has lots of tender seedlings to protect.

That's about the most positive thing I can think to say about it.

Yup, none of these so called boffins seem to recognise this.
There have been changes in the climate ever since the beginning of time. It's part of the natural cycle.

And who funds the MET Office?????
The government. So it's no surprise that they aren't entirely independant.

Well we have to have lived through the last thousand years to recognise anything really. I think people get on climatologists backs and forget that they are an expert in their field, very easy to have a go at the climatologist, having learnt nothing much about climatology. Of course if critics have a very sound knowledge of climatology, that's a different story.

Met office are funded by taxpayers under a government cloak, doesn't it make you mad? :blue thumb:

As long as it isn't raining or snowing then I'm happy. If I'm cold then I dig a hole to keep me warm. Makes me feel much better too.

Although my boiler will be ripped out in less than 2 weeks time, so we will have no heating for 4-5 days. Some warmer weather would be nice for that.
