Planting out and Sowing over Easter

Pre empting questions about if its ok to sow or plant out.

Simple test is to drop your trousers & sit your bare bum on the soil.

If you don't notice anything then its fine, if you go AAAHH!! then the soil is still too cold

 

Ahh, so there was a point to my efforts

 

I don't think I'll be trying that anytime soon Zigs.

After the bee in my kecks episode last summer i reckon i could get away with that test without the neighbours thinking im too weird

 

I agree, if you are growing seed, soil temperatures are far too cold for germination.
But I've planted spuds and a few onion sets today.
Both in the dormant state.

Thinking being that once it warms up the incessant rain is likely to make planting impossible, if last year is anything to go by.

Farmer also said that if everyone who comes on holiday down here picks a stone up and has a poo on his land, he'd have the best soil in the country

 

Well put it this way, his hedgerows are pretty fertile now.
