Pricking out. Everything will go to 1" modules this year, easier to bring everything in to a warmer spot, and then pot-on to 9cm. Always gone straight to 9cm in the past.

I have mown the front lawn and watered the front borders.

Other job for the day is to empty the two smaller (temporary) composters into the new big one and add on top all those lovely leaves I just used the lawnmower to chop up :):blue thumb:

'Tis a lovely sunny day here again for the third day in the row  and forecast to continue until tuesday at least.

Not in the garden (too chilly for that nonsense), but for the garden -

I put up the second pair of shelves that I got recently, and sowed a load of seeds which are now distributed on the two sets of shelves at the back end of the living room. All in, we sowed:

            Tomato Marmande x 120
Millefleur Yellow Vine Tomato (Centiflor Type) x 20
            Tomato Faworyt (Beefsteak) x 30
            Tomato Ailsa Craig x 75
            Tomato Maskotka x 60
Pepper Carribean Hot Mix x 30
            Nicotiana x 110
            Marigold (French) Boy-O-Boy Mixed
            Marigold (French) Honeycomb
            Lobelia Regatta Blue Splash

I will need to sow my Marigold Erecta (Lemon Mum), and Malva Zebrina at some point over the next couple of days (although god knows where I am going to put them to germinate!).

In the midst of all the planting, I realised that I was short of cell trays, so took a wee trip to my local garden centre to get some more - ended up coming home with three packs of the mini-propagator packs, and a couple of packets of Nasturtiums (as you do!) - Dayglow Mix, trailing type for my baskets (as I am not holding out much hope for my petunias) and Castanets just coz they looked nice on the packet :oopss:

The back of the living room looks like a mini-nursery, as do the window sills on the stairs.

Here is one to be going on with - not ideal, I'll admit, but it gets things started.

                  You and me both :)

That would make a good thread title :)

My local Garden Centre Group Garden Centre (why can't they just call it Wyevales like they used to ... much easier to say!!) normally starts April with a 4-for-3 offer on Multipurpose Compost. This year it is 6 x 56L bags for £20 ... so I bought 12 bags. 2 trolley loads, both lots fell off trying to get the trolley over the curb to the carpark on the other side of the road - much merriment ensued :)

Tried to get only bags from the top of the pallet load, as the ones at the bottom will be squashed into bricks, but someone had already had the first layer or two :)

This morning's snow showers gradually petered out, so I actually managed to get some meaningful gardening done this afternoon.

Still too cold to do any fiddly jobs, so I got stuck in to edging and digging over my two large vegetable plots. That got me well and truly warmed up. :phew:

As a bit of a bonus, at the back of one plot I found four small strawberry plants growing in the grass at the bottom of the fence. Haven't grown strawberries for a few years now, so they must be seedlings from a passing blackbird (the main reason I gave up growing them).

These are now potted up in the greenhouse, where they will stay, hopefully out of blackbird reach. :th scifD36: Will be interesting to see what they produce.

That's a nice friend you've got goosegog :blue thumb:

Today I'm going to clear the top patio of mud/leaves/bird seed remnants/bits of wood from half collapsed pergola, etc.

I am also going to move the table/chairs which are against the back wall and which are never used (at the moment the table is covered in plants which need to be potted on or planted out). If I move the table to the side of the house then I can have more plants against the back wall :snork: The side of the house is in complete shade so not practical to put anything there.

Tell you what, once the warmer weather arrives, there is going to be a hive of activity on this thread  I have shedloads of plants which are either new and need to be in planters, or are being moved from one container to another, or are being planted out.
