bleeding heart

wondering if anyone could tell us if the bleeding heart is a variety of cyclamen or is it a variety of fuscia

 

The only bleeding heart I know is Dicentra Spectabalis which is niether. But there are hundreds of varieties of fuscia and it is possible that one could be called bleeding heart.

 

There is no 'Bleeding Heart' listed in the RHS Plant Finder under either cyclamen of fuchsia. I'm inclined to agree with Pete2255 that you are giving the common name of Dicentra spectablis. Other common names are 'Lady in the Bath' and 'Ladies' Lockets' depending where you live which is why we eventually learn to use Latin names so we all know which plant we are talking about!!

I know of no other bleeding heart but Dicentra Spectabilis. I grow 3 forms. The usual pink, a slightly darker form and, for me, the best of all Alba. Lovely frothy white. I have it near a purple hellebore

The original post is indeed 7 years old. I hope that doesn't render it irrelevant. I am 32 years old but still have much to offer

 

Seven years old or not, let's confuse things!

Dicentra spectabilis is now called Lamprocapnos spectabilis.
And.............Clerodendrum thomsoniae is also has the common name of Bleeding Heart as I recall.

 

No, not irrelevant just that the original poster won't benefit from the replies.
