I do mine in the kitchen. Not particularly popular, but newspaper down on the table, and table and floor are easy-clean surfaces anyway.

When I have spare seedlings I double-plant about 10% of the containers. Prick out good ones to the centre of the 3" pot, and a standby to the edge. If I get a failure I lever out the standby from another pot and promote it to main-plant :) (I do this even for tiny things like Coleus / Lobellia in 1" modules.)

I've lost a few "Better Boys" and "Early Goliath" due to someone switching off the power to my greenhouse before a VERY cold night but my Big Boys and Big Zacs came through it :)

    Hi loli.

As you say, quite an unusual 'look'. I'm pretty sure John has grown this at some stage. I just wanted to say, it looks a good healthy plant, good job:blue thumb:

Looks like a tomato plant in all respects, except the leaves are not divided. The seed leaves look right, the hairs on the stem, the way the new leaves are emerging at the growing point ... based on those I would have guessed that was a Tomato, even though the leaves themselves look wrong. So I doubt its something else ... but I've been wrong before!

Hi Loli, I think that's OK. I haven't grown Brandywine before but one or two other varieties produce those 'potato' leaves. It is a good healthy plant :dbgrtmb:

On No! More trouble for you Vince. Those 'Big' varieties must be a bit hardier then.

Hi John, nothing seems to phase the "Big Boys" and "Big Zacs" seem to be of a similar ilk (perhaps they're related?)

I got 11 out of 12 seeds germinate for the "Big Boys" only 10 out of 12 for the "Big Zacs" but I'm more than happy with that.

It's my "Early Goliaths" and "Better Boys" that took the hit, still, more than enough have survived for my use.

The cherry tomato mix I got as a freebie from the "States" are an enigma, 1st ones germinated about a week ago, on inspection this morning, I found another 2 poking their heads through :)

We're promised warmer weather next week, gonna have to pot them on as I need the propagators for other stuff!

We are underway! The first handful have germinated, so with any luck the rest won't be far away and I will be over-run with tomato plants before long! :dancy:

                  That's a good selection liliana :)

I've updated the list at post #1.

Also just wondered if you know what the 'Lg' is on the suffix of Red Cherry?
