Its reminding me more and more of the Darwin Awards. If it wasn't for the terrible consequences of what they are threatening it would be laughable.

Like trying to attack a fully armed Tank with a Lumphammer, yes you might do some damage, but its not much compared to what the Tank will do back.

It makes me wonder what Israel thinks of all this and whether it will influence them to do something before Iran gets nuclear weapons.

I think it needs to be made very clear to them that should they start anything, it will finish very quickly for them.
Any attack should be met with total wipe out of all their military capability and within the first few hours.
So as not to give China the chance to get involved politically.
Once politics get involved these things drag on for years.

I think its really sad for the ordinary people of North Korea. They will believe that the US is the aggressor (sometimes they are in my opinion, but not this time). They will believe that their military has to act in self defence against a hostile force. Many of them are going to end up dying or losing loved ones all because of some little so and so that needs taking down a peg or two.

I'm not sure what the various treaties following WW2 say about propaganda campaigns and 'interfering', but here would be my plan if I was in charge and international law allowed. I would draft a letter, have it translated into whatever language they use in North Korea. I would have millions of copies of this letter printed, and I would order that these letters be distributed all over the built up areas of North Korea. Some would be dropped from bombers, others would arrive on the end of a missile (which was somehow program to land somewhere uninhabited and NOT explode, after shedding its warhead of letters over some town or city.

What would this letter say? Something like this.

I think the dropping of leaflets was tried during WW2, if they were to drop their leaflets here, would you believe them?

I'm guessing the answer is NO.

But it gives the ordinary people a chance to start wondering.

            They are probably already wondering.

They are just not allowed to.

I have to agree with Pete that any retaliation from the US and other allies should be so fast they won't have time to blink. Disable (as best they can) any missile that has been launched from NK (I presume by blowing it out of the sky), and then move directly on to taking out every military establishment in the entire country, as well as ensuring that that jumped up little idiot gets annihilated in the process.

As I once said to someone that threatened my family "You won't see me coming, you won't see me go, but by god you will know I've been"

I wonder how much of their equipment is either surplus from old Stalinist countries, or at best is based on the templates and blueprints that were used by those countries?

Anyway, size doesn't matter, as long as it can fill a pram.
