Hi all. I'm going to do some turfing and I would like to know if anyone can recommend some good turf and a good turf supplier. I'm in the berkshire area. The area I'm going to be turfing is a bit shady, it still gets a good 2 hours of sun each day though, so needs to be tolerant of these conditions, I think there is good drainage. Thanks in advance.

Good quality turf http://www.rolawn.co.uk/ , website will direct you to local stockist, those listed as premier stockists are more likely to be able to give you advice.

Do they have a shade variety? My local sheds just have a pallet of one-size-fits-all (which will, no doubt!, be the full-sun hard-wearing variety) outside them ...

I bought mine on eBay and drove to the Fens to collect it. Very depressing, 20 acres of dead flat, weed free, beautifully mown grass. Quite upset me!

But since then I have only sown seed as I, personally, now think the environmental impact of taking an inch of two of premium topsoil off the fens every couple of years is something I should avoid doing. Far more choice of seed too, e.g. for shady conditions.
