In life she divided the country, created tensions and fallouts among people who would normally be best buddies. I knew she was powerful, but she's even more powerful than I gave her credit for. She's even managing to create tensions and fallout in death. I don't mean here, you should see some of the discussion in progress elsewhere on t'internet.

I'll bet - some of the statements on the BBC alone were pretty nasty to be honest. I can't get a look at DS at the moment as my connection won't let me get on there, but I bet its pretty near the knuckle on there

I didn't agree with a lot Margaret Thatcher said but without her we couldn't have bought our council house and then been able to buy my dream bungalow where we live now.
      :dunno:

And now a Council House as such, is as rare as Rocking Horse poo. And the kids cannot afford to leave home and get married because they can't put their names down for a Council House.

As much as Thatcher has a lot to answer for, she can't be blamed for the astronomical rise in house prices. After Thatcher had thrown entire communities into poverty, the market was flooded with dirt cheap houses. Mostly vacant following repossession or sold cheap by people desperate to get out of their now poverty stricken no hope neighbourhood. I'm not exaggerating, not far from where I live now, about 25 years ago there were houses for sale in a neighbourhood near us for less than a grand.

            My favorite Thatcher quote,

A prescription was 20p when she said that.

Yes she can. It certainly wasn't labour in charge when house prices went up to telephone numbers.

There's a great video called 'My Shock Reaction to Thatcher's Death' on YouTube. I posted it here but Tory back bench Admin took it down for some reason.

I'm politically neutral, incidentally. Still, check it out!

It wasn't the post as such GG - you can laugh as much as you like on Gardeners Corner BUT not smeared with foul language. Thank you Mods. for removing it,

Margaret Thatcher's final wish was to be cremated.

                Unfortunately, we've no coal left!
