    Hi Nick.

To my eyes your Toms look ok, but it might be a mistake to put them into a relatively un-heated greenhouse. Frost free may well be not enough. It seems by common consensus that 10c is the minimum. A better course of action (imo) would be to bring them in at night.

    Cheers...Freddy

I wonder if it might be an idea, for folk that are growing several varieties, to indicate any that are considerably slower than the rest - such that, in future years, folk growing them may choose to start them off several weeks earlier in order that they start cropping at a similar time to the main group?

I know JWK mentioned that a couple of his crop relatively late, and this year [for the first time] growing 10 varieties I can see that some are not as Jessica Ellis as the others ...

Perhaps JWK could record a summary of suggested earlier sowing dates on Post #1 for future reference (hope that's not an imposition John?)

The new "tomato" house will have to wait for another year, we've had so many unexpected outgoings recently, vet bills, cremation costs and the straw that breaks the camels back will come tomorrow.... the van needs a new clutch and drive shaft! :cry3:

In the interim, I'll probably invest in a 3m x 2m polytunnel to go up the allotment, with 60 odd tomato plants, peppers and cucumbers, I just haven't enough room in my two 8x6 greenhouses in the garden!

I will struggle to do that Kristen, I'm a bit maxed out at the moment with work. I thought there was a readily available list of maturity dates somewhere on the internet that did just that, but I can't find it.

I'm happy to collate any information, and then let you have a summary for permanent posting in #1 at a later date.

I'll have a hunt on the internet too (you'd think I would have thought to do that first, eh? :( )

I think us Brits may win! potted on some Big Boy (Brit) and some Big Zac (Yank) today and noticed a marginal difference in size, the Big Boys have the advantage at the moment, time will tell which produces the larger fruit!

Thanks Poolcue, I've updated the list at post #1.

That's quite a lot of very different varieties you've choosen :)

I am also growing two seeds of each of the following from Teegee:
A Turkish tomato (sown 1/4 2013 - just popped up)
A Fuerventura, Canary Islands tomato( sown same time - not yet up)
                  Both are mysteries,
                  Jenny

Keep us posted Jenny, it will be interesting to see how they compare with your other varieties.
