It always amazes me how quickly a border will go from bare soil, to the first signs of shoots and then the real promise of what is to come. This is what some of my borders look like right now. I know we are all in different phases of how things are growing so I thought it might be interesting to compare how different locations are doing.

Prunus "Kojo-Ho-Mai is only a small shrub but when it's small white flowers show it's really beautiful.

Looks like things are really starting to come alive. Great pics

I just bought a Osmanthus Burkwoodii and I'm wondering whether to plant in my border or put it in a pot. What do u think?

Also does it flower again in summer as I believe it's highly scented ?

Hi Smiley, I would definitely opt to put the Osmanthus in the border as that's where it will be happiest. It's a well behaved shrub as it's very tough, slow growing and will eventually reach 5' in height X 4' in width. I love late April and early May when it flowers as the scent of the small white flowers is very intense and you can smell the scent up to 25' away on a warm day!! A cracking Shrub!!!:snork:

Yes, Mum, that was a Lupin you spotted. I like them as they come back every year and add that splash of colour and height where needed. I've got 3 others in pots and I'm debating with myself as to where to put them. They will be planted in a group as I hate seeing single plants stuck in a border looking all alone!!:coffee::snork:

AHA!!! I will almost be able to call myself a "gardener" at this rate

I bought 3 last year: red, white and blue and I planted those in a group arrangement. They all split seed wonderfully in the Autumn.

Checked the copse end earlier today and I can only see one plant emerging. But! I'm very happy with that *insert smug smiley*
