    Hiya John.

Hadn't thought about pre-warming the bed, but given the temperature at the moment, a very good idea:blue thumb:

Ok, progress to date, all looking pathetic, stalled growth but am I bothered? NO! I'm hoping my well prepared onion beds will bring them on leaps and bounds once it's warm enough to plant out. One thing I should be happy about is the fact we should be self sufficient in onions for the 2013/14 season, I had a quick count up today, conservative estimates are:- 78 Kelsaes, 72 Long Red Florence, 110 Bedfordshire Champions. There will be more but going on the ratio of 5 onions per week, I should come in with a couple spare :)

          Hi there John.

I'm also now thinking along the same lines, as it might make it easier come planting time. Thing is, they are starting to look a bit unwieldy :psnp:

              Hi folks:)

Herewith, a few pics. The third pic is of some of my third sowing, bearing in mind that at one point I thought my second sowing had failed, but they were slow to germinate and are the ones shown in the first two pics. I hope that makes sense? Anyway, there are maybe three or four weeks between them, but the difference is very noticeable. The second sowing had all the attention, heating/lighting etc. The third sowing has had to take it's chances in the greenhouse (kept frost free).

Looking good Freddy. Certainly can see a big difference between the two batches.

Hiya John, I should have said, the ones in the third pic are also in smaller pots...just to give perspective.

I would say so, yes. Just don't let them dry out completely:blue thumb:
