Noticed Monty Don has a new jacket and Guernsey when watching GW last night. I don't have special clobber for gardening in apart from my wellies and a hat to keep my hair out of my face.
Do other members have special clothes to garden in?

If I am planning to go out and do some work in the garden I have an old pair if tracky bottoms. Most of the time I go for a wonder around the garden and start pulling a few weeds out then it escalates and before I know it I am in there covered in muck and e wry thing needs washing after.

I tend to keep a few old tops for gardening and an old pair of flat soled ankle boots when digging around, other than that I'm out there in an old pair of slippers for everything else. :)

Jeans and Crocks, plus a lumberjack shirt or a rugby shirt. If I'm doing anything that involves a spade or ladders / heavy items such as for hard landscaping then proper workboots (steel toecaps).

Walking through the garden today something sharp jabbed by foot. Sat down, took sock off, removed all bits of muck, felt base of my foot, nothing obvious, felt inside the crock carefully, nothing there. After a few more yards same pain, same foot, same place. Assumed I had not done a thorough job and repeated the cleaning process, more carefully. Couple more yards, some problem ... after the third time I was convinced there was nothing there ... checked the bottom of the Crocks and there was a minute stub showing. Got some snub-nose pliers and extracted a Pyracantha thorn ... just long enough that once fully embedded into the sole the tip could just reach through the sole ... :( Extracted another 3 or 4 that were hiding in the sole and all-but invisible. Don't have that problem with my work boots!

I use old t-shirts and an old fleece with tracky bottoms and old trainers. If it's hot I'll wear a t-shirt, long shorts and old trainers. No point in getting my new stuff mucky!

Old pair of dpm combats and whatever I happen to be wearing on top. Fleece for colder weather and a pair of old caterpillar boots for stomping vine weevils and lily beetles!

No gloves? On telly the presenters never wear gloves which I find strange.

I find it hard to work in gloves too. I should find some I like wearing as my hands/nails are becoming wrecked! :snork:

I wear chaps or plus fours, leather riding boots or nice brogues, waistcoat shirt, tie and monocle but I sometimes dress up. Depends who's here I guess. What, guffaw guffaw.

                  Anything old, scruffy and comfortable.

For hot summer days, it's my trusty Tilley airflo hat. Keeps the sun off, while still allowing air to pass through and keep your head cool.

On very cold winter days at work I break out 'old faithful', my ancient donkey jacket which has seen me through many winters. I've tried many different winter garments over the years, the donkey jacket is the only one which keeps me warm but still 'breathes' and doesn't get all clammy inside when you work up a sweat.

Not a great fashion statement maybe but who cares.

It can get as far as a pair of knickers and a pareo here in the summer ... :heehee:

                    Winter, jeans and a tee-shirt ... :)
