you could freeze the pollen for when you want it .

Wylie , your plants are looking really good.

All your seeds apart from one are up, so not doing so bad just have to label properly when each one has its own pot .

*seed update Octopus hugs and lurch are up 4 in total * my 1st ever cross :dancy:

A few days ago I posted a photo of the cross Reflections In Time x Amber Rhum. It wasn't the best flower, and I hope it does something better later in the seasson. But today Optical Art x Reflections In Time opened for the first time, and the result is much better:
Optical Art x Reflections In Time.JPG
Gold self with a blue and red banded eyezone above a yellow to green throat. It was difficult to get a photo of this because it was slow to open, and then the colours got faded out by the strong sunlight. So as soon as the sun got off the flower, I took the picture.
Another one that has been giving me problems getting a good photo is this one:
          Sdlg x Lillians Crazy Arms.JPG
This is Sdlg x Lillian's Crazy Arms. It is one of a small group that didn't flower last year, but is doing so this year. The hint of blue in the eye usually doesn't show up, but this time the flower opened late, and here it is.

Anyone who isn't familiar with the problems of hybridizing daylilies, here is an example of a typical one: siblings or Plain Jane and the Ugly Sister.
            Yee Haw x Dark Wonder.JPG
This is Yee Haw x Dark Wonder. It has tried to get the eye of Yee Haw, but lacks the double of Dark Wonder.
            Yee Haw x Dark Wonder.JPG
This is the Ugly Sister - no eye, not double; just another red daylily.
More successful was this cross of Magic Of Oz x Ashee Dashee:
Magic of Oz x Ashee Dashee.JPG
At 6.75" across, it has the strong green throat of Magic of Oz, but again, lacks the double of Ashee Dashee.

I have my order in with both Sheila and Pollie!, although they are waiting for the weather to improve:heehee:. I placed a small order with www.eurodaylily.com and he was going to ship on April 20, but pushed it to the 30th. This week I should receive "Life Is A Highway". He sent a photo of it as he got it from Ladybug, and there are 3 fans and a new one growing.
As a bonus photo, here is Gillian x Thomas Tew that opened today. It bloomed for the first time last year, but didn't look this good:

I requested Star of India, Etched Eyes, Crintonic Shadowland, and Lois Burns. I like patterned eyes, which explains the first 3, and green throats like Lois Burns. I also keep in mind possible crosses. Single fans usually take a year to flower, and so I am thinking of what I want to do next year.

Aaaah yes the beautiful 'Crintonic Shadowlands' :wub2: doesn't show that lovely blue/grey halo to well in my garden but still a beauty, look forward to seeing how yours performs Wylie, 'Etched Eyes' is a beauty too :dbgrtmb:

'Crintonic Shadowlands' 2012, showing the band slightly better on this picture but think I prefer the darker colour of 2011

I thought about the possibility that the halo might have a problem, and I'm hoping my garden is warm enough for it to do well.
The problem with single fans are the way they are seperated. Scapes grow from the underside of the clump and can get damaged, so you have to wait until they rebloom or next year. I have a lot of new ones from last year that will flower for the first time soon (Which Way, Gilded By Grace, Bluebird Butterfly, Lip Smack, Don Herrell, to name a few).

Spruce have you seen there's some more new ones on ebay from firstfordaylilies, I'm quite flattered, they seem to be using my picture of 'String Bikini' :hate-shocked::heehee:
