What's Your Weather Like...? MK7...

A cool, grey, cloudy day with no hint of sunshine. We had a light shower of rain in the afternoon but that didn't last long and it's been dry since then. The top temperature was 50f but now it's dropped to 48f.

 

We didn't have a Sunset tonight, mowgley, just a darkening of the skies!!!

 

Hi pete, we're on heavy clay but there's a good layer of topsoil supplemented by over 40 years of compost . Right on the front of our property I rarely dig, just hoe a little, so it has a very fine, dusty surface.
Other parts of the garden are quite dry where I've tried to dig.

What is now our veggie plot was nearly 6" of topsoil with heavy, solid, yellow clay. I originally skimmed the topsoil off and dug in straw to a depth of almost two foot (only needed to wheelbarrow the straw from the field alongside). Added to that was six ton of ash from the bonfire and loads of compost and chicken manure (they used to breed chickens and turkeys at the back of the garden).

The lawns still get waterlogged but the beds don't

This morning we have a very light mizzle. Not enough to move leaves about but sufficient to leave a damp surface. I can see that the breeze is now coming from the north as the front garden (north facing) has the breeze moving the trees and shrubs but the back garden has no movement, at the lower levels, at all.

Rain stopped. Sun coming through.

 

When the sun came out the temperature went from 51F to 64F in 45 minutes. Whilst I was out there working it hoverred around the mid to upper 60's but the sun has now gone in and it's raining lightly. 61.3F

 

More blue sky than cloud for most of the day and the Sun had some warmth in it for a while. The slight breeze seemed to make things cooler now and then but still it has been a pleasant day, much better than yesterday. More cloud has arrived and the temperature has dropped to 52f.
