You are truly inspirational Folly Mon. This slow start Summer doesn't matter if you feel good in your soul does it?

I think it's Plectranthus Nick. Someone will correct me no doubt. It's a plant that is strong and generous and we can all learn a lot from it.
How long have you had your plant now?

But now you have the respect and admiration of a lot of people (me included) for your wisdom and insight. If you hadn't had a dark patch in your life you might not have become the inspiration that you are today.

Fate, destiny, whatever, its a funny old world. Its why I have no regrets. I've made some monumental mistakes in my life, as I'm sure most people have, and I sometimes look back and think 'I wish I'd done....' or 'I wish I hadn't done...', but truth is if I'd done anything differently my life may have taken a different direction entirely. I might not have ended up with a nice semi back in my home town, which I share with my lovely wife and son. I remember having this conversation with my driving instructor years ago, and I was on about how I nearly joined the army but withdrew my application at the last minute after seeing the UN peacekeepers ordered to do nothing while they witnessed a horrendous war crime taking place. I said I sometimes wished I'd gone ahead and ended up fitter, stronger and wiser, but then if I had done I might not have met my missus because my life would have been different. Instructor shocked me by replying "or it might have been very different in that it ended". Good point, I hadn't even considered that had I joined the army I could have been killed in action. But I digress.

My point is we are who we are now. That's what's important, and we are what we are partly because of what we've learned and experienced in our past.

Thanks for your reply Nick. :) You must have a strong will to get through what you have and you could so easily just have given up the struggle to fight your way back, especially dealing with the health issues you have now too. Your strength of mind gives us all something to think about. :dbgrtmb:

Do we have a date in June? ;)

Mandy recorded this at the age of 10. She was a child film star and had made 18 films by the time she was 18.

Kandy, yes, she was a remarkable little actress. In that film she played Mandy Garland and made in when she was seven years old. It was the story of how her family, and herself, got her to learn to speak and do sign language. Phyllis Calvert played her mother and the person that was teaching her was played by Jack Hawkins. Definitely worth seeing if it comes up on TV.

The year prior to that she had a small part in another good film (comedy) called The Man In The White Suit starring Alec Guiness as an inventor who made a material that never got dirty. Co-starring were Joan Greenwood and Cecil Parker.
