So, how should I go about pruning?

I've just cut off all the offshoots, leaving the stem and any thickish branches, cutting them before the node.. but some photos online have cut them back to complete stems.

    Any help appreciated!

I've not grown them as bonsai but they can take pretty heavy pruning as long as you keep them warm enough. I try to keep mine over 16C through the winter.

We've been away for a month and left our chillies in the greenhouse, in a propagator. I haven't checked to see whether they have survived. Before we went we pruned our 3 and 4 year old plants back and I think they may have survived. I'm not so confident about the 6" high seedlings. Update later.

Thats OK James , I enjoy reading your Chilli posts :blue thumb:
Mine are 3 weeks old now , and been in the light box for 2 weeks . The second set of true leaves are just showing , so I'll prick them out in another week.
I saved seed from last years Hungarian Wax . Now one batch is the picture of health , the other , at the front of the photo , is a paler green ? I think I will dump them as I have more than enough of the others.

Mine are rubbish ... I've had zero germination from several, and disappointing plants from the rest :( Ditto for Sweet Peppers and Aubergines.

Too late to sow-again ?? Replacements from the Garden Centre (my normal cop-out) are either single plants in 1L pots that I refuse to pay £XX each for, or little trays of seedlings (which would be fine) were 50% are already dead ...

I wanted a couple of cucumbers too. Garden Centre normally have half-decent plants, but all the trays-of-3 had only one surviving plant in (and they are still stickered at full price!!)

Need to go a bit further-afield to some more caring nurseries I think ...

My Chillies are flowering and the Hungarian Hot wax and Fuego Chillis are forming.
Kristen the Chilli plants our local GC sell are pretty cheap £1.50 a plant . I think this is the only cheap plant they sell ! I suppose it depends how many you need to buy . Have you no Chilli farms down your way?

I would say its too late from seed for the more exotic plants - you may get away with something fast growing like cayenne but my hotties are only just getting going & most of them went under the growlight back in Feb.

Ive got a couple of spares if you are up in Oxfordshire anytime soon, otherwise plants from WorldOfChillies have been getting good reviews elsewhere this week.

Actually I only want a couple of chillie plants, and I particularly want the one I grow as that's what I like to cook with - which probably narrows down the options hugely ...

But for a "re-sow" (or buy from G-Centre) I was really meaning Sweet Peppers - where I would like to grow 20 plants, or thereabouts.
