This spring I have noticed 2 new types of snail that I haven't seen before

    One is a yellowish colour.
And the other is a yellow/ brown striped/zebra effect.

    Anyone know what they are?

Are they an introduced species in the UK?
Never had them in my garden before.

I found a Roman Snail once in Guildford. Never seen another one since, that was 25 years ago.

How nice to see a thread about snails!!!:) The small banded/yellow snails are Cepaea nemoralis, and the larger Roman snail is Helix pomatia and is in fact a protected species!!! Had loads of these where I used to live in the South, they are quite beautiful!

Thats interesting Val, so if you've got Roman Snails in your garden its illegal to put slug pellets down or even pick them up & put them somewhere else.

I would imagine it is OK to put them somewhere else as long as it isn't miles away!!!:heehee:
