All sorts of wrong things occurring with this mp compost from Wickes. They reduce the cost shortly after putting it on sale and remove reviews... I wonder if they're actually just removing it from sale and running down stock?
Hmm, trading standards. I am tempted.

I have bought some more B & Q MP compost and think I have bought the "rogue bags" discussed on here. Very wet and the twigs and bits in it had the white bits - not the normal lovely brown stuff - perhaps these are the bottom of the pile that haven't dried out like the rest - the bags were very squarely compacted - and there were just a couple of layers out the front of the store. Got 1 bag left. Will go back for more next week - and select from outside the back - might try to find a ripped one to check . Have lost a good few tomatoes planted in it - keeling over at soil level - stem rot ?

Whereabouts are you Sumbody ? Scrungee is in the midlands and he got "rogue bags" possibly the midlands suppliers quality is poor ?

I asked the store to open a bag for me to look at. I suggested that in view of all the bad publicity about compost they may find it a good selling ploy to have an open bag for people to look at.

    The manager agreed. :blue thumb:

Harry S - I am in London and the store was Charlton (by the Millenium Dome in Greenwich) I am hoping the next lot I buy will be the normal stuff as otherwise I don't know where I will go as I will not be returning to Homebase or Wickes as they have the straw stuff the same as last years - and especially as Wickes are being "clever" by removing bad reviews :nonofinger: .

Good idea Shiney about them having a bag open before buying

Got the pat response from Wickes. They're terribly sorry the review was removed and no they can't put it back etc.
Have lost interest in a business with such poor customer relations, at the least they could have been honest in their dealings. I can't be taking the time to go through this with them any more so they 'win' with a pile of dusty paper shreddings a lot of poor people will buy throughout the year.
I truly hope they come back in 2014 with a compost that people love again but doubt it.

      To B&Q for me!

Looks like my whining has resulted in Wickes reinstating the review. Well done them.

So one day Wickes can't reinstate your review, but another they can - I still reckon Wickes are watching this thread! And just in case your review 'disappears' again:

In fairness that might just be that the operator replying to Loofah's Customer Support request may not have known, and then chatting to supervisor / whatever sorted that out.

There are loads of "Rubbish" reviews on their other composts, so it doesn't look like they are actively suppressing them? They also went to the trouble of constructing a reply, on 24th ... to then deliberately delete it afterwards?

The review was in Google's cache too, so not easy to completely cover their tracks ....

But I did think the reply was odd when Loofah mentioned it earlier but I, too, thought "how much most energy do I want to expend!" I was pretty sure that DELETE is not something that can be done, easily, on BaazarVoice, but rather "Hide from view", so I'm not surprised that it was retrievable.

I previously tried checking whether the review was in Google's cache, but used the wording from Wickes response (that I had quoted) and Google couldn't find it.

Again this year I will be using Violets Farm MPC may not be the cheapest but no waste and no lumps and the plants love it (they told me so :) )

There was only a link from the Products page, but it had a decent part of the review showing

I used this site-specific search on the sub-domain, using just the Product code as the keyword

            site:reviews.wickes.co.uk 101292

and then the CACHE option on Google's results. At the moment Google is saying that it last cached that page on 16 Apr 2013 16:30:34 GMT (so the Review was active at that time, at least)

I was going to add a review but having to register was too much bother. I'm surprised they didn't want my inside leg measurement! :heehee:
