    Yes, you're right I hadn't read it all. So if you see them on your runner beans you must just leave them there to munch to their hearts content!!!! :hapydancsmil:

      Yes, but you can do what you like with them there, they are only protected in England.

      I once painted numbers on Garden Snails, think I got up to about 80.

      Only ever saw one of them again.

      Found a snail whilst doing a wildlife survey at Clarendon Palace, that has an Opperculum. The trap door like a Winkle has, to stop it drying out.

      As far as we know, only 2 British species have these.

      I think the trap door is to also keep out predators.

          What I find interesting is that I have lived in this area (current house and old house a few roads away) for 10 years, and have never seen them before

                It was usually accompanied by something that meant illegitimate child when I lived there.
