They didn't like the sorrel then :snork:,

I should give them something nice to eat, we give our wildlife plenty to eat and they still like to dig up the pots just for fun

Just think how nice they're going to taste when you catch them!! Zigs

Deer with a oinon taste :)

I read in a book that putting human hair around fencing (border edging?) deters deer.
I used to put the cleanings from my hairbrush out for birds.
One of my children gave me a queer look stating: "We don't have any deer?"
        Mum: "Must work then!" :heehee:

Fortunately i'm behind with planting out this year, could have been a lot worse.

They've never come into the garden before this year.

Busy night out there last night, half a rabbit in the garden too.

Can't blame that on the deer! :)

When I told my deer to go away on holiday (or words to that effect) I didn't tell them to go down your way. Honest!!!! :heehee:

Sorry, I know the feeling when they've been through the garden.

Well thank goodness you are behind on planting then.. mind you I think we all are this year.... Next winter could be a very expensive fruit & veg time.... Farmers around here have been feeding cattle much longer this year & no lovely sweet grass will make a difference to the milk..!! Ho hum.......

Anyway back to the subject.. My mate uses this stuff with good effect Zigs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grazers-ltd-Treats-375ml/dp/B007FOWPC0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_lp_1

He also plants chives mint & onions & pelagoniums allot basically deer eat by smell 1st taste second so give it a try.. They are lazy animals too & will certainly help themselves if we have it tidy.... ;)

I hasten to add I am an amimal lover but there are just too many deer around here and the ones I've seen are very thin despite eating their way through my garden! Hope you like the deciduous Camellias which I don't think will recover (4 of those) and the golden Yew is now affectionately known as Bart Simpson due to having a similar hair cut. Who said yew was poisionous?..not to deer it ain't.

More trouble for our Zigs! Come on you little Deers give him a break :)

There do seem to be a lot of them about right now and getting less and less afraid of us humans.

The trouble around here a few years ago Silu.. Very thin animals going into gardens because the herd had been allowed to get too big & therefore not enough food.. The herd is now managed & we don't have them coming to the village anymore as there is enough food & they are healthy animals....
In saying that though food is in short supply because of last year & the long winter/late spring we are having....
Are the deer managed where you are Silu.?

No they are not MF which is the problem. Add to that a deer farm about 5 miles away which has escapees and you end up with herds of deer which are neither controlled or looked after. Bad for the likes of me and the deer.
