I can remember these - as i do not live too far from the college - nice to see they have gone to a good home

 

I bought three more Acer Palmatums Two Atropurpureums for a tenner each from Morrisons (I took the last two and got a dirty look off a bloke who stood next to me) which are going in a border and one ickle dinky one for £3.98 from B&Q called Little Princess which is going in a planter.


Also bought a Black & Decker Scorpion saw on offer and another 9 bags of compost.

 

Well I had a lovely time at Harrogate flower show last weekend and was quite restrained only bought plants that I knew I had a spot for, not like me , and as thats the wood only woodland plants, I bought:
Corydalis 'Spinners'
Epimedium 'Fire Dragon'
Corydalis 'Blue Dragon'
Lamium 'Orvala'
Epimedium Youngianum 'Roseum'
Corydalis solida 'Incisa'
Anemone nemerosa
Dicentra 'Cucullaria'
Right best get on with the planting

 

Okay I admit it, I have a plant-buying addiction

I went to Costco to get a couple of planters and came away with a 5L Magnolia Susan for just under £11.

They also had Stellata and Soulangiana but I resisted the urge to buy more than one.

If anybody's interested they also had fruit trees which were about 8 feet high for under £7. May have bought one but it wouldn't fit in my car so just as well.

As many will know I can't resist vintage tools - bought these two at a Car-Boot for £1. each !!!! - The spade is for an allotmenteer next to our community plot who had his nicked!! - he keeps chickens so I will trade with him for a few eggs, the fork, probably about 60 years old is in near perfect condition, just a little surface rust on the tines - Well pleased !!

My Magnolia Susan turned out to be a bigger bargain than I thought as it was two plants with totally separate root systems

 

I think Magnolia Susan is one of the finest Maggie hybrids Merle. I do miss mine..... ( previous house)

I treated my self to Angelica Gigas , new one for me to grow.

 

Saw one in Kevin Scales garden (Norfolk) when it was open under NGS last August and loved it, and have grown some from seed things year ... first time for me too



Not sure the photo is much cop ... sorry about that :( I just remember it as being "dramatic"

Mine is already a big plant and has a lot more space to develop I gave it half a bag of manure dug in to the hole and a sprinkle of water retaining gell before I planted it up as its close to the bamboo and I know it likes to be moist and the bamboo tends to dry stuff out close by , I will collect seed in the Autumn and put in to trays straight away and keep in the greenhouse over winter , how did you grow your seeds as I know they need light and no heat ?
