Thanks everyone for the replies. The pallets and raised beds cost £70, not bad for 20 pallets and 8 raised beds or as the pallet people call them collars. Handy having a pallet company 500 metres from the allotment.

I daren't tell you how many pallets that I've put on my wood burner this winter!!!!

Mum, it was one of my strawberry beds but not the main one and I took hundreds of runners off it last year so no loss.

Hi Julie, just been looking at your pics of your tunnels, are they ok in the wind? We have just bought 2x 8 ft long gardman ones from garden centre and i am so panicking that at the end of this year they will be busted. it does state that i should take the covers off at the season !!. wot a pain, as hubby is digging the covers in as they have only been up a week and we had some wind and they flapping about. Have been looking at bigger ones on ebay but dont know as yet wot to do?, any thoughts?

Hi,

From my experiences, the key is to hot tape on all bars, stakes into the ground and to bury the cover. My guardman 6x 10ft ones last a season and then a new cover is needed, basically because I didn't follow the above instructions. The bigger tunnel I never used hot tape so I may have problems. The big tunnel has stood up to 60 mile an hour winds.

My next tunnel will be from first tunnels and I will recover my existing with proper polythene and add door frames in autumn. If buying one like mine buy a 7 hoop version, not the powder coated version. Expect to pay £169 off eBay.
