No sign of my Musa basjoo yet.
Is it just very slow because of the bad weather?
    Or is it a gonner?

If the old stems have died it can take a while, especially with the cold spring we have had.

If it was only a small plant last autumn, it could be a gonna.

If you get the chance I'd buy a new one, it will take most of the summer to get to any size from the ground.

    Pete,
Yes, it was a small one. First year in the ground.

I think it might be dead then.

      Doesn't sound good.
Dig it up and have a look, if its still alive, pot it up and put it in the greenhouse.
In the mean time get another one.:)

I have one that has been in the garden for at least 2 winters but did not make much headway last summer. It has produced two spikes this spring, so far about 4" high. I guess they are pups of the original. So I'd be best off digging at least one up, as they are very close each other, and relocating it.

Excellent Sirius! Watch out for slugs and pigeons they have had a go at my T.Rex shoots at that stage, I've had to cover mine with plastic cloches to keep them off.

Just been mulching my T.Rex and suddenly noticed a Musa basjoo growing, I'd given that one up for dead, it was a small Lidl plant bought last summer :dbgrtmb:

Seems that Musa has been slow this season because of the cold spring.
