Now , when will it be OK to plant out French and Runner beans ? Mine are in modules in the GH and the night time temps seem to be improving now.

Harry, I was planning on planting out my beans this weekend BUT I won't be!

Frosts are still forecast (even here in London), so I'm biding my time until my asparagus makes an appearance.

I wont be sowing my Runners (direct) until next week at the earliest.

Planted out the remainder of my Onions today, including Long Red Florence (thanks Vince:)), Santero, Hytech and a few Kelsae I had left over. My Carrots emerged the other day and seem to have germinated well. I'll probably sow the remainder of the Carrots this weekend. I noticed my Spring Onions have started to come up. I never seem to do very well with these, so fingers crossed. It will also be time to plant out the Cabbages(Caramba) in the next few days.

Tell me about it! The grass around here is going yellow as we haven't had any decent rainfall for months now.

Hose pipe ban next then Freddy!

I've been watering my carrot seeds tonight, and all containers have needed a sprinkle over the last couple of weeks.

Runner beans are out, also Rainbow Chard. Direct sowing of more Beetroot.

Indoors, my Corgettes are getting flower buds, Calaloo is finally growing (sowed that far too early) and the second sowing of peas is coming on.

I ran out of room in the greenhouse, climbing french beans(Cobra) planted out, candid charm cauli's planted out and King Edwards planted too.......

Moved about 2 ton of soil today and my back is now totally knackered, Don't you just love gardening?

I like them. Only Cauli's I grow now as they are more successful for me than others I have tried :)

Sowed my Bridgwater Beans today that were kindly donated by Alex-Adam. Earthed up my spuds that emerged a few days ago. Potted on my Squash which are growing at quite a rate! Cucumbers are up (Burpless Tasty Green). Sowed some more Rocket and Lettuce. I note that the Lettuce I planted out a few weeks ago (Webbs) are not looking very tender, as always:doh:The cabbage (Hispi) I planted out a month or so ago are making good progress. The other day I sowed a few Kilaxy (Cabbage) which are supposed to grow to a good size. Since space is at a premium, I'll only plant out two or three, just a bit of fun, really.

I'm pretty new to veg growing, but had some success with broccoli, spinach and cabbage last year. I use established plants from a local charity plant sale in mid may. This year a friend gave me a load of leek seedlings - about 8inches long. Not knowing any better, I put them out in the veg patch last week. They all appear to still be alive (!) but now it looks like there may be a grass frost this week. Anything I can do to prevent problems? They're obviously a bit weak to lay anything over them.
