That's sods law, Mr G. That happened to me when I was putting tiles on the wall in the Bathroom when my wife only wanted tiles halfway up the wall.....and then changed her mind and wanted them up to the coving. Of course when I went back to get some more they stopped the line!!:gaah: It took 9 months before I managed to find some in another shop completely by accident and finished the job.:snork:

You waited 9 months ?? You have more patience that I Armandii. I would have just put a border tile in then a different a colour above the bottom ones. Or just say "No" to Mrs A. I know that's easy said than done sometimes :snork:

My Marigold seedlings are not looking the best. Instead of a vibrant green, they are a reddish brown. They are alive a growing slowly but could the cold have effected them ? They were never frosted so not sure.

It sounds to me like they are suffering from the cold Mr. Grinch.

If they are already in the ground try covering them until the weather warms up, if they show no signs of revival in a few days then I'd start again. Likewise if you still have them in pots or trays, bring them inside for a few days and see if they respond.

You got any 2L (or maybe smaller) Pop bottles you can put over them as mini greenhouses? Cut bottom off (I use a wood saw) and take the cap off the top :) Be prepared to lift them off on days with bright sunshine.

They are all in pots still and were bought into the shed at time of very chilly nights so just dont get it. Ive always sowed in April and had no problem. It isnt even because ive sowed them in doors and they havnt harden off properly as they have been outside all the time.

Everyone's plants are at least a month behind this year Mr. Grinch due to the weather, so see how they go, they might start to pick up now the weather is getting slightly warmer. :)

Sheal's right, Mr G, my seedlings are at least a month behind which means my contribution to the Local Gardening Club sale and to Shiney's Open Day won't be as big as I would have liked:dunno::snork:

                  I a
I agree, some of the new plants I've planted are behind, the roses do not look good at all but these seedlings are different. The have the look/colour of how they look in September or early October, that end of season look on the downward spiral. I may sow some new ones today just in case and give these another week to see.

Well i did so some more to be on the safe side. Marigold "Naughty Marietta" and a Tagtes (i assume thats a sort of Marigold) "Paprika". Sowed them and will keep in doors until i prick them out. Best to be safe than sorry as i run the risk of no bedding at all this year.
I also planted 6 pots of Sun Flowers for the kids, see who can grow the biggest, maybe a bit late to sow the seed but see what happens.

3 out of the four Dahlia i planted in pots have grown, the other rotted off some some reason. Will leave them another month or so before planting out. I re-potted the Ilex Crenata. They had been in the old pots since they were bought via mail order and did not look that happy. They had been cell grown by the looks of it then transferred to the small thin cheap plastic pots. So, i re-potted them with decent compost into bigger pots a few weeks ago and already they look happier. Even growing new leaves. Hoping they will make a nice low hedge between the Box cones around the play area.
