I just posted in the What's Your Weather Like thread ......it aint good.

I left my plants to harden off last night in a sheltered position against the fence. This was the third night in a row and they were ok. I haven't grown many due to me being ill and looking after someone else who's also ill.

Anyway we had hailstones through the night and my plants this morning look wrecked, droopy, partially brown leaves - I think they've given up too. I was about to bring them in and we had another barrage of hailstones. I don't know if these little plants have had it now?

    I've given up!

They should be fine after a bit of mollycoddling. A few torn leaves and bruises shouldn't be too much of an issues in this period of strong growth!

Chin up, it happens to us all sooner or later!

Don't give up, you have been unlucky but the weather will improve and before you know it your plants will be going mad. To be safe bring them in for a few days :dbgrtmb:

Thanks JWK........after some encouragement from yourself, Lea and Loofah I braved the elements, went outside and brought them into the house.

I haven't got a greenhouse, just a wide window ledge. They're on there now inside 2 of those wire puppy crates I bought so I could grow from seed and so the seedlings would be protected from the 3 cats who share our house!! The wire puppy crates were cheap ones bought off ebay....they did the job well as not a single seedling got chewed up. :)

It's just frustrating as these plants managed to escape damage from a trio of chewing felines but then sit in icy water all night due to the weather....:cat-kittyandsmiley:The cats are lovely, they do like to have a good chew though.

I noticed some of the new smaller leaves now looks purple on some plants.

Probably just a little stressed, as you have brought the in, after a few days they should pick up, they may lose some of those damaged leaves, but they should come back ok. :sick0026:

The purple colour is showing on the agastache plants which were bright green and on the nasturtiums.

Yes bear with it they should come back now they are back in the warm. Trouble with this weather you just do not know what is going to throw at us next. I had to rush out and put a cloche over my fuchsias this morning when we had a hailstorm unexpectedly. Good luck.

Thanks Moyra.......I've just checked them and some do look a bit sorry for themselves but others look better than they did. Hope your fuchsias are ok. :)

My guess is, the roots are undamaged and will be working at putting up new growth; so, should be fine.

Never give up! I do know how disheartening it can be at times, but, the rewards are so worth it :grphg:
