Met Office forecast for nearest town last night was 6degC and min temp this morning in my garden was 4degC, so would have been about 2deg at my plot.

As their forecast for the town Friday is 4degC it looks like it could go down to freezing at my rural plot Saturday morning.

This weather is getting silly now - I moved a whole host of stuff out to harden off earlier this week, and I don't have the room to move it back in again. If this is what summers are going to be, I am going to take loads of cuttings of my lavateras and just have them spread all around the garden :mute:

Oh joy, I'll have to go out in heavy rain to cover my spuds up then remove the soaking wet freezing cold sheets/net curtains in the morning and dry them out. (my plot temps are 4degC lower than this forecast for the local town)

I've moved all my plants back into the greenhouse, we're promised 6C overnight but that's not a problem, the force 8 gale will be!

I've only got space for a few things indoors now, so I've got to be selective. My cucumbers are looking the saddest so they are in the spare bedroom :gaah:

Not sure about the "now" though FC? Frosts in May, even late May, is not that uncommon ... although not that common either! but "never cast a clout until May is out" as the old saying goes :)

True - I suppose it just seems worse given the weather that we have had over the last 12 months or so?

I know one thing - I had to put the heating on for an hour tonight, and I cannot ever remember having to do that in May.

Indeed :( but you may well find that "it just feels like it" and that the averages were not that far adrift from the long term averages.

Although last year my Solar Panels recorded 25% less "power", over the course of the whole year. That's a BIG difference ...

I decided to ignore the date on the calender and put the log burner on tonight. Glad I did as toasting now and plenty of inner warmth care of a few drams...! deadens the possible pain of many of my Rhododendron and Azaleas being ruined if we have a frost tonight.

I haven't escaped one month since September 2011 without the heating on at some point. Thought I would make it through last August but on the 30th the evening was cold, so it went on for a couple of hours. :frown:

I don't bother about dates. The boiler is switched on all year round and the thermostat in the hall is set. The heating comes on, any time of year, when the thermostat decides it's not warm enough. :blue thumb: Which has been almost every day this year. :rolleyespink:

I only remember that Shiney because I was so shocked to have put it on. I haven't got a thermostat inside, so have to switch it on and off from the control/timer box.

I don't blame them - go on, spend a fiver and get that heating on for an hour or so :snork:

I don't like the heat, and in fact prefer a cool to cold bedroom, but I cannot stand sitting indoors and feeling cold.
