Back to our Bridwater beans , these are French beans (?) and grow anticlockwise when viewed from above ?
I am growing Polestar runner beans as well , now these grow clockwise when viewed from above ?
If someone can confirm this I would appreciate .

    TIA

Hiya Harry. Sorry, just saw your post. Yes, Runner Beans grow counter-clockwise. Didn't know about French Beans though, interesting.

Well, my Bridgwater Beans are emerging, and it looks like 100% germination:yes:

Wonder how they would grow on the Equator?

I was thinking of Geotropism, but its not the same mechanism that applies to bathwater.

Still, never hurts to think about plug holes:biggrin:

                Hello chums.

My beans are about 5ft tall now, and still climbing up the canes. Should I stop them when they get to the top, or just let them do what they do?

My Polaris runner beans are at the top of the poles now , and I have stopped them . The Bridgwaters are at about 4 feet but I presume I will stop them when they reach the top , unless advised otherwise , by our resident bean gurus !

Like you Harry, I have pinched out the tops of the runners (variety Scarlet Emperor). I will pinch out my climbing French beans, Bridgwater and Blauhilde, when they get to the top of the wigwams - talking of wigwams, - I have already stopped the Cherokee Trail of Tears I am growing for the GiM community gardens in the poly-tunnel, they have put on masses of growth and are in full flower now - hoping for a good crop.

                  Hiya chums:)

What size do these Bridgwater Beans need to be for picking?

Pick them when about 4" - 5" long, before the beans start to swell.

Towards the end of the season leave one plant to develop its beans fully and let the dry out, then you have seed for next year.
