Most of my tomatoes are still "pot bound" but I will start potting on over the weekend, they're either at or close to the flowering stage and I'll be clearing out the greenhouse this weekend. The coldest spring in 50 years hasn't helped us gardeners so my plants will have to take their chances outside in the real world?

Toms and Cukes staying in the greenhouse.... OK peppers too.... All the rest, up the allotment whether they like it or not!

I've had to do hardening off the tough way - repot and evict outside; no chance of taking them in and out to harden properly due to time constraints as well as space constraints.

So far, apart from some leaf damage on my marigolds (silvery, papery edges on the top leaves), everything else seems to be OK.

My Early Goliaths are nearly hardened off, got a flower on one.

Planning on planting out on the 4th.

My toms (and most other stuff) has been out for weeks - leaves damaged by hail - but new growth looks good. Hopefully the worst is behind us now

Things are finally looking up a bit here too - none of the outside plants have given up, despite the wind, cold, frost, hail & rain - and I have fruit setting outside on stupice:

and Tamina (which for some reason Ive planted inside a wigwam for sweetpeas and it really wants to get out ..)

Should anyone be thinking about planting outside stupidily early next year, Gartenperle and Stupice seem to be the most cold tollerent, ace absolutely hated it..

I think that sort of information will become more and more useful, plus which varieties grow best in poly tunnels, start off well under growlights, etc. what with all this dodgy weather we're getting these days.

I know I said that it was a good day to choose, I didn't think you'd remember what day it was though. I'm going off to hide now! :sofa:

Here's a couple of pics of the one's I have in the greenhouse in my trusty B&Q buckets. They are still slow to get going but there are some flower trusses appearing now. The rest I will be growing outside and they are busy hardening off at the moment.

Thanks Loli, all my toms seem to have thick stems this year. The Tamina above is as thick as the cane already.

The difference between the varieties is quite something for me - the Marmande are still the diamonds for me, with lovely looking foliage, sturdy stems and flower trusses showing on some.

The Maskotkas are scruffy looking, but I reckon my first edible will be from a Maskotka as they're the first to have fruit setting. The rest are pretty mediocre really, but there is time yet.
